Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck)

The abdominal skin loses its elasticity due to certain reasons such aging and childbirth. Besides these, also the gravitational effect may increase its flabbiness. Surgeries performed with intent to remove the excess part of the excessively fatty sagging abdominal skin and obtain an abdomen that looks like as it was in the youth, by suturing the loose muscles inside this area, are referred to as abdominoplasty, i.e., tummy tuck. Especially in women, who have gave birth and whose abdominal regions have been deformed, this surgery gives very good results, and can also eliminate stretch marks. This surgery is done by extending a typical caesarean incision towards the both sides, and this surgery can also be done in conjunction with liposuction.

The surgery should definitely been performed under general anesthesia, and takes 2-3 hours on the average. The patient stays in the hospital for 2 (two) days but gets up the next day; and in the following fifteenth day, begins to gradually return to his/her everyday life. Based on my 29 years of experience, I can say that please do not have this surgery before stopping smoking for a period of at least 15 days, if you are a smoker. DEFINITELY inform your physician of this; and if you decided to have a surgery, NEVER smoke in the pre-operative period. In other words, do not betray yourself and your doctor. You will already need to abstain from smoking for a month after surgery. At the end of an abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), your body contours becomes shapely and you gain a flat and tight abdomen.
